Australian Standard Light Switch Dimensions
Australian wall switches use rectangular plates and comply with AS/NZS 3112. Unlike the square format common in Europe, AU plates are wider than they are tall. Light switch dimensions vary slightly by series and material — three distinct plate sizes are available across the IGOTO AU range.

European Standard Light Switch Dimensions
European wall switches use a square plate format. Standard EU light switch size ranges from 82 × 82 mm to 88 × 88 mm by series and material grade. All IGOTO EU series carry CE and CB certification. The 86 × 86 mm format is also compatible with UK wall boxes.

Same Plate Size, Different Standards

EU G3 (CE) & VN A80 (IEC)
Both series use an 86 × 86 mm square plate. A single wall box cutout and cover template works for both European and Vietnamese installations. Certification differs — specify the correct series per market — but the physical fit is identical.
US WD (CE) & VN WE (IEC)
The WD and WE series share a 120 × 70 mm rectangular plate. For procurement teams managing projects in both US and Vietnamese markets, this shared dimension reduces wall box variants required on site.
How to Match Light Switch Dimensions to Your Wall Box
Choosing the wrong switch plate size is one of the most common installation errors. Follow these four steps before ordering.
Confirm your regional standard
Your wall box and wiring system will be built to a regional standard: AU/NZ, EU, US, or VN (IEC). Check the existing switch or consult your electrician if unsure. Using the wrong standard is a safety and compliance risk regardless of whether the plate physically fits.
Measure your existing plate or cutout
Remove the existing cover plate and measure the opening (length × width). Compare against the light switch cover dimensions in the table above. For flush-fit replacements, the new plate must be equal to or slightly larger than the cutout.
Choose your material
PC is standard grade — lightweight and suitable for most residential use. Acrylic offers a glossier finish. Aluminum and stainless steel suit commercial environments. Glass panels are chosen for premium interior design projects.
Select gang number & current rating
Gang number refers to how many switches are on a single plate (1G, 2G, or 3G). Current rating must match your circuit: 10A for most lighting, 15A for AU power points, 16A for higher-demand circuits and all VN standard installations.
