The one-gang FS plate is not a single product. It carries the standard 10A two-way mechanism (FS302), the 16A version (FS301), a double pole mechanism (FS302DP), an intermediate mechanism for three-location control (FS302/005) and a 35A switch (FS302/035). Same plate, same wall box, different job.
FS uses an acrylic face on a 121 × 80 mm plate — the wider of the three Australian formats IGOTO builds, and the one that suits a flush finish against painted plaster. The acrylic layer sits over the carrier, so the colour reads deeper than a printed PC plate and does not chalk in UV.
Contacts are AgNi15/Cu silver alloy on T2 copper conductors, with screw terminals and both back and side cable entry. That combination is what makes a one-gang switch survive a decade of daily switching without a soft, uncertain click.
One switch, one lighting group: bedrooms, bathrooms, laundries, single garages, walk-in robes and small offices. If the room has one door and one light, a one-gang plate is the correct specification — going to two gangs only adds a blank position nobody uses.

All 1 gang models share the same 121 × 80 mm acrylic plate, the same screw-terminal mechanism and the same SAA approval under AS/NZS 3112. Other gang counts in the FS series run from one to six; see the full FS series for the rest of the range.
A single-gang switch is a small part to get wrong and an expensive one to get wrong at scale. This page covers the FS302 family — every one-gang acrylic plate IGOTO builds for the Australian market, with the same AS/NZS 3112 approval, the same screw-terminal mechanism and the same 121 × 80 mm footprint as the rest of the FS series.
Start with the function rather than the colour. Most orders are the standard 10A two-way (FS302), because most lighting circuits in Australia are wired two-way whether or not the second switch is fitted on day one. The 16A version (FS301) covers circuits with a heavier load; FS302DP breaks active and neutral together for heaters and outdoor circuits; FS302/005 adds a third control point; FS302/035 is the 35A switch for larger loads.
Then choose the face. White and matte black ship from stock, champagne and green are held in the acrylic range, and any of them can be spray-matched to a RAL reference with a laser-marked logo through our OEM programme. As the manufacturer we supply wholesalers, distributors and electrical brands directly from Yueqing, with SAA documentation and factory pricing quoted per order.

The rule is simple: count the lighting groups the room needs, then add one only if you know what will go in it. A bedroom with a single pendant is one gang. A bedroom with a pendant and two bedside wall lights on separate circuits is three. A bathroom with one ceiling light is one gang; add an exhaust fan on its own switch and it becomes two.
The mistake is future-proofing with a blank position. A two-gang plate with one gang unused looks unfinished, and the spare position is rarely wired later because the cable is not there. If you expect a second circuit, pull the cable and fit the second gang now. If you do not, a clean one-gang plate is the better specification — and the FS304 two gang plate is there when the room genuinely needs it.
Physical size is the other constraint. The FS one-gang plate is 121 × 80 mm, while the AS and DS series use a 117 × 74 mm format. If you are matching an existing wall of plates, check the plate size before you order by series alone — the full comparison is in our light switch dimensions guide.
The Australian market is supplied by a small number of brands with local assembly and a much larger number of imported ranges. Clipsal, now part of Schneider Electric, is the name most electricians grew up with; HPM sits under Legrand; Connected Switchgear, Zetr and Voltex cover project and trade channels. Between them they set the visual language of the category — white PC plates, 84 mm mounting centres, a rocker with a positive click.
What those brands share is not a factory in Australia. Most of the range is manufactured in Asia and certified to AS/NZS 3112, then supported locally with stock, warranty and technical documentation. IGOTO is one of those manufacturers: a factory in Yueqing, Zhejiang, producing acrylic, PC and aluminium plates under SAA approval for distributors who either sell under their own brand or supply trade counters.
That matters when you are choosing a supplier rather than a brand. Ask for the SAA certificate and the AS/NZS 3112 test report, confirm the plate format matches the wall boxes on site, and check whether the range is complete enough to cover one to six gangs. A brand name on the box is worth less than a certificate that matches the model number on the carton.
Every FS one-gang plate is assembled on our own lines in Yueqing, where the mechanism, silver contacts and acrylic face are fitted, calibrated and inspected before packing. Each gang is function-tested on the finished plate rather than sampled from a batch.
The same lines cover all five one-gang variants above, in white, black, champagne and green. Beyond stock colours we handle custom panel colour matching to your RAL reference, laser-marked logos, retail packaging and mixed-gang orders built around your catalogue.
Ordering a 1 gang Australian switch is straightforward — the checklist below mirrors what our sales team will confirm with you anyway.
Custom panel colours, laser marking and retail packaging built on the standard 1 gang platform, across PC, acrylic and aluminium series, with SAA documents covering the certified range.
Factory-direct pricing with flexible MOQ and scheduled delivery for Australian distributors stocking 1 gang switches and the wider FS, AS, CS and RS series.
Dedicated account management, Australian technical datasheets and priority production for partners building a 1 gang switch range in PC, acrylic or aluminium.
OEM/ODM, wholesale pricing and distributor support — one enquiry gets you a factory-direct quotation for the 1 gang FS plate, with SAA certification under AS/NZS 3112. Price is quoted per order rather than listed, so tell us the model (FS302), the mechanism and the quantity before you buy; replacement stock ships in bulk cartons or retail-ready boxes, and the standard mechanism is a rocker.
Contact Our Sales TeamOne gang switches one circuit, not one light. A single circuit can carry several luminaires — six downlights on one switch is normal — as long as the total load stays within the 10A rating and the circuit is protected correctly. What one gang cannot do is switch two circuits independently; that needs two gangs, or two separate plates.
Only if a second switched cable already reaches the box. The plate size is not the problem — FS one and two gang plates share the same 121 × 80 mm format and the same mounting — but a two-gang mechanism needs a second switched active. Without that cable the spare gang has nothing to control, and the circuit has to be extended before the plate is changed.
Same plate, same mechanism design, different rating. FS302 is the 10A two-way switch and FS301 is the 16A version. In residential lighting the 10A is almost always the correct choice; the 16A version is specified where the circuit carries a heavier load or the project standard calls for it.
The acrylic face is UV-stabilised and does not chalk the way an unprotected PC surface can, which is why FS and YS are the series we recommend for light-coloured plates in bright rooms. As with any polymer, prolonged direct sun on a south-facing wall will age it eventually; in normal interior use the colour holds for the life of the switch.
