Key Features & Typical Use

An Outlet Set the Other Way Up

FS313-V is the single outlet on the 80 × 121 mm face. The socket insert rotates with the plate, so the plug lead leaves the outlet sideways along the wall instead of dropping straight down.

Narrow Piers and Tight Returns

A horizontal power point needs 121 mm of plaster. In a hallway, a pantry return or beside a fridge cavity there is often less, and the vertical face keeps the outlet where the appliance is rather than moving it to the nearest wide wall.

10A or 15A on One Face

The same plate takes the 10A outlet or the 15A outlet for heavier appliances. The face and cut-out are identical; only the insert and the terminal rating change.

Cord Direction Is the Design Question

With the insert rotated, the lead runs across the wall rather than down it. That is an advantage behind a bench and a disadvantage beside a skirting, so decide from the appliance, not the plate.

FS Series Models

Model Configuration
FS313-V 1 gang single power point, 10A, vertical plate
FS335-V 1 gang single power point, 15A, vertical plate

10A and 15A share the face and the box. Horizontal single outlets and the rest of the range are on the FS series page.

The Single Outlet for a Wall That Has No Width

Power points are horizontal by habit, not by rule. The plate is rectangular, so the same outlet can be set vertically when the wall will not take 121 mm of face.

FS313-V is that plate. It keeps a single 10A or 15A outlet at the point where the appliance actually is, instead of pushing the outlet around a corner to the nearest wide wall.

Where a Vertical Outlet Wins

Three places come up repeatedly: the narrow pier beside a refrigerator cavity, the return wall in a hallway where a horizontal plate would sit within 30 mm of the corner, and a joinery panel where the outlet has to land between two cabinet doors.

In each case the wall has height and no width. The outlet does not care which way the plate is turned — the insert is the same part — so the vertical face is purely a geometric solution.

The Plug Lead and What Sits Below

A rotated insert changes where the lead goes. On a horizontal outlet the cord drops away from the wall; on the vertical plate it runs across the wall, which is tidier behind a bench and awkward where a skirting is close below.

Check the appliance lead length and the space below the plate before fixing the height. If the outlet sits above a bench with a 100 mm upstand, a sideways lead is usually the better result; beside a floor-level skirting it is usually not.

Factory-Direct OEM / ODM Manufacturer

One Insert, Two Faces

FS313-V uses the same socket insert as the horizontal single outlet, which is why the certification covers both faces. Only the plate moulding and the packing label change.

White and black stock in both faces; champagne, green and RAL to order with a colour sample approved before the run.

  • OEM branding — laser marking, custom panel colours, retail packaging.
  • ODM options — vertical or horizontal face, switched or unswitched, 10A or 15A.
  • Certification — SAA approval under AS/NZS 3112, documents supplied on request.
  • MOQ — flexible wholesale quantities, mixed faces in one container.

Buying Guide

A vertical outlet order turns on two measurements and one appliance.

  1. Measure the clear wall width; under 121 mm means the vertical face.
  2. Confirm the appliance load: 10A for general, 15A for heavier.
  3. Decide switched or unswitched, depending on whether isolation at the wall is wanted.
  4. Check where the plug lead will run before fixing the height.
  5. Approve a sample, then confirm colour quantities and packing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the plug go in sideways on a vertical power point?

The insert rotates with the plate, so the lead leaves the outlet to the side of the plate rather than below it. The plug still engages normally; what changes is which way the cord runs, which matters behind appliances.

Can FS313-V be supplied unswitched?

Yes. Switched and unswitched versions use the same plate and the same box; the difference is the switch on the insert. Confirm which you need when ordering, because it is not visible from the face once installed.

Is a vertical power point compliant in Australia?

Yes. Orientation is not restricted; the requirement is the AS/NZS 3112 outlet and SAA approval, and both faces carry the same certified insert. Check the plate height against the application, which is the part that does have practical rules.
