A single switched power point is a small product with a specific job: give one appliance a switch at the wall. FS314 does that on a horizontal acrylic plate, with one 10A outlet and one mechanism beside it.
It is the right plate when the position serves a single appliance that is awkward to unplug — a washing machine in a laundry cupboard, a dishwasher under a bench, a rangehood above a cooktop. Where two outlets need isolation, the double version is FS316.
The plate is the standard FS format and fits the same wall box, so a laundry can mix switched and unswitched points without a different cut-out.
Count the appliances that need isolation, not the outlets. One appliance behind a panel means one switched single; a washer and a dryer side by side means a switched double.
A switched single is also the cleaner answer where the second outlet would sit unused. A double plate with a dead half looks like a mistake, while a single reads as deliberate.
If the position needs two outlets but only one needs a switch, the FS316 switched double point covers it. If neither needs isolation, the standard FS313 single point is simpler and cheaper.
Switched single points are bought by electricians and project suppliers rather than retail customers, so they sit with the trade ranges — Clipsal, HPM, Connected Switchgear, Zetr and Voltex — and with imported ranges through wholesalers.
The questions are practical: does the switch isolate the outlet, is the mechanism rated for the appliance, and does the plate match the rest of the installation. A switched point that does not match the unswitched points beside it is a visible inconsistency at handover.
