Key Features & Typical Use

Two Outlets and a Switch

FS316-V adds a switch to the double outlet, so both appliances can be isolated at the wall without being unplugged. Three controls on an 80 × 121 mm vertical face.

Isolation Where the Plug Is Hidden

Behind a washing machine, a dishwasher or a wall oven the plug is hard to reach. A switch on the plate is the difference between isolating the appliance and pulling it out.

Vertical for Appliance Bays

Appliance bays, cabinet end panels and narrow service walls are drawn tight. The vertical face keeps the switch and both outlets in the bay instead of moving one of them outside it.

Switch Rating Matters

The switch has to carry the appliance load, not just the lighting load. Confirm the rating against the appliance nameplate when the load is heavier than a standard 10A circuit.

A Switch Beside Two Outlets, in a Narrow Bay

An appliance that lives in a cabinet has two problems: the plug is out of reach, and the wall beside it is narrow. FS316-V answers both with one plate.

Two outlets and a switch on the vertical face. Isolate at the wall, leave the plug alone, and keep the whole assembly inside the appliance bay.

Why an Extra Switch Next to Two Outlets

A switched outlet plate is not about convenience, it is about servicing. A dishwasher with its plug behind the cabinet cannot be isolated without pulling the machine out; a switch at the plate isolates it in place.

The same logic applies to a wall oven, a range hood with a remote motor, or a pump. Wherever the plug is concealed, the switch belongs on the face — and if the wall is narrow, that face is vertical.

Switched or Unswitched: What the Switch Controls

On this plate the switch isolates the outlets rather than a separate circuit. That is the standard arrangement for an appliance bay and it is worth confirming with the electrician, because a switch that controls only one outlet is a different wiring job.

Rating is the other check. The switch must carry the appliance load; a 10A switch on a 15A appliance is not a specification, it is a fault waiting for a busy day.

Switched Plates Tested Under Load

Every FS316-V is function tested with the switch operating both outlets. A switch that isolates one side only is the failure this test exists to catch.

Stock in white and black; champagne, green and RAL to order. The unswitched version uses the same face and the same box.

  • OEM branding — laser marking, custom panel colours, retail packaging.
  • ODM options — vertical face, switch configuration to your appliance schedule.
  • Certification — SAA approval under AS/NZS 3112, documents on request.
  • MOQ — flexible wholesale quantities for kitchen and appliance projects.

Buying Guide

Two questions: what the switch isolates, and what the appliance draws.

  1. Confirm the switch isolates both outlets, not one.
  2. Check the appliance rating against the switch rating.
  3. Measure the bay width; under 121 mm means the vertical face.
  4. Decide whether the outlets also need individual switches.
  5. Approve a sample wired as it will be installed, then book production.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the switch turn off both outlets?

On the standard configuration, yes — the switch isolates the plate’s outlets together. If a project needs one outlet switched and one permanent, that is a different wiring arrangement and should be confirmed with the electrician before ordering.

Can the switch be used as the appliance isolator for servicing?

It provides isolation at the plate, which is what makes servicing possible without pulling the appliance out. Whether that satisfies the installation’s isolation requirement is a call for the licensed electrician under AS/NZS 3000.

Is a switched version available in 15A?

The switched plate is specified at 10A per outlet as standard. For 15A appliances, confirm the switch and outlet rating together on the quotation rather than assuming the standard plate covers it.
