FS329-V is a 200W fan speed controller with a switch on the vertical acrylic plate, for the narrow wall or column where a horizontal plate does not sit cleanly.
The controller is for fan motors rather than lamps: a ceiling fan in a bedroom, an exhaust fan in a bathroom or a commercial space. The 200W rating covers the motor load, not a lighting circuit.
A fan controller and a light dimmer are different products. A dimmer on a fan motor can cause hum, overheating or a stalled motor; the controller is designed for the inductive load.

All models use the same 121 × 80 mm acrylic plate and the same SAA approval under AS/NZS 3112. The FS series covers switches, power points and communication outlets from one to six gangs; see the full FS series.
A fan controller is not a dimmer with a different label. FS329-V is a 200W controller with a switch on the vertical FS plate, built for fan motors rather than lamp loads, in the positions where a vertical plate is the right fit.
The 200W rating covers the motor. Ceiling fans and exhaust fans draw an inductive load, and a lighting dimmer on that load can hum, overheat or stall the motor — which is why the controller exists as a separate product.
The plate uses the same acrylic finish and colour range as the rest of the FS series, so a vertical controller can sit beside horizontal switches without breaking the finish.
If the load is a motor, use a controller. If the load is a lamp, use a dimmer. The two are not interchangeable, even though the plates look similar and both have a dial.
The rating has to cover the motor’s starting current as well as its running load, and the fan manufacturer’s guidance should be checked before specifying. A controller that is marginal on a ceiling fan will hum at low speed.

Fan controllers are a small part of the range but a recurring one in bedrooms, bathrooms and commercial fit-outs. Clipsal, HPM, Connected Switchgear, Zetr and Voltex all carry versions, and compatibility with the fan motor matters more than the brand on the plate.
The questions are the motor rating, the starting current and whether the fan is AC or DC. A DC fan may not be controllable with a standard wall controller at all, which is worth confirming before the wiring is planned.
