Key Features & Typical Use

Press Action, Not a Toggle Edge

FS515-V uses a push button actuator on the vertical face. It reads as a modern switch, suits a flat plate aesthetic, and gives a different feel under the finger than a standard rocker.

Hotels, Accessible Rooms and Public Buildings

Push button plates are specified where the switch has to be obvious and easy to operate with a closed hand or a limited grip, which is why they turn up in accessible rooms and public amenities.

Vertical for Door Reveals

The same 80 × 121 mm face as the rest of the vertical range, so a push button can sit in a narrow reveal where a 121 mm horizontal plate would not fit.

Mechanism Type Decides the Wiring

Latching and momentary push button mechanisms look identical from the front and wire completely differently. Confirm which the project needs before the order, not after the electrician arrives.

FS Series Models

Model Configuration
FS515-V 1 gang push button switch, 10A, vertical plate
FS515-V / 16A 1 gang push button switch, 16A mechanism, same plate

Confirm the mechanism type (latching or momentary) on the quotation, because the two are not interchangeable on site. The rocker version is on the FS series page.

A Push Button on a Vertical Plate

Push buttons are chosen for how they operate, not for how they look. The whole face depresses, there is no rocker edge to catch, and the action is the same whichever way the plate is turned.

FS515-V puts that mechanism on the 80 × 121 mm vertical face for door reveals and accessible rooms where a horizontal plate will not fit.

Push Button in a Vertical Plate

The vertical face suits this mechanism better than most, because a push button has no up or down. Rotating a rocker changes which way is on; rotating a button changes nothing about how it is used.

That makes it a clean answer for a narrow reveal where the plate has to be vertical for geometric reasons but the client wants a consistent switch across the building.

Accessible Reach and the 900–1100 mm Band

Accessible design puts controls in a band roughly 900–1100 mm above the floor, and a 121 mm tall plate has to sit entirely inside it. Centre the plate near 1000 mm and it does.

The other accessible consideration is operation force and grip. A push button can be pressed with a closed fist or an elbow, which is why it is specified in accessible bathrooms and public amenities even when a rocker would be cheaper.

Factory-Direct OEM / ODM Manufacturer

Two Mechanisms, One Face

FS515-V is built on the same plate as the rest of the vertical range, so a project can mix rockers and push buttons across a floor without a second face moulding or a second colour batch.

Confirm the mechanism type at the quotation stage — latching and momentary versions are produced to order and are visually identical once installed.

  • OEM branding — laser marking, custom panel colours, retail packaging.
  • ODM options — vertical face, latching or momentary mechanism, labelled plates.
  • Certification — SAA approval under AS/NZS 3112, documents on request.
  • MOQ — flexible wholesale quantities for hotel and public building orders.

Buying Guide

One question decides the order: latching or momentary.

  1. Confirm the mechanism type with the electrical designer.
  2. Choose 10A or 16A against the circuit.
  3. Measure the reveal width; under 121 mm means the vertical face.
  4. Set the plate height inside the 900–1100 mm band for accessible rooms.
  5. Approve a sample that operates as specified, then book production.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a latching and a momentary push button?

A latching button holds its state when pressed, so it works like a normal switch on a lighting circuit. A momentary button only makes contact while pressed and needs a relay or control system behind it. They look the same from the front.

Can a push button be used on a standard lighting circuit?

Only the latching version, wired as a normal switch. A momentary mechanism on a standard circuit will not hold the light on, which is why the mechanism type has to be settled before ordering.

Is a push button suitable for accessible bathrooms?

It is often chosen for them, because it can be operated with a closed hand. Check the plate sits inside the 900–1100 mm control band and confirm the requirement with the accessibility consultant for the project.
