The FS304 puts two independent 10A two-way mechanisms on a single 121 × 80 mm acrylic plate. Each gang switches its own circuit, so a kitchen can run bench lights and pantry lights from one position without a second plate on the wall.
This is the most common ordering error in the category. Gang counts switches on the plate; way counts control locations for one light. A two-gang plate can be two one-way circuits, or two two-way circuits, or one of each — the mechanism is chosen per gang, and the plate does not change.
FS304 ships as 2 gang 2 way, which means either gang can be wired as a single-location switch or linked to a second switch at another door. That flexibility is why distributors stock the two-way version rather than a one-way-only plate.
Two gangs suit the rooms where lighting is split by function rather than by zone: bench and room lights in a kitchen, pendant and wall lights in a living room, hallway and porch at an entry. If a room needs three or more independent circuits, move up to the three-gang plate instead of stacking plates.

All 2 gang models share the same 121 × 80 mm acrylic plate, the same screw-terminal mechanism and the same SAA approval under AS/NZS 3112. Other gang counts in the FS series run from one to six; see the full FS series for the rest of the range.
Two gangs is the workhorse configuration in Australian residential wiring: one plate at the door, two lighting groups behind it. The FS304 family covers that requirement in acrylic, with the same 121 × 80 mm plate and the same mechanism as the rest of the FS series.
The standard model is the 10A two-way (FS304), with the 16A version (FS303) for heavier circuits, a double pole variant (FS304DP) where active and neutral must break together, an intermediate version (FS304/005) for a light controlled from three points, and a 35A switch (FS304/035) for larger loads. Each gang is independent — you can specify one two-way and one one-way on the same plate.
Where it earns its place is in rooms with two lighting functions but one natural switch position: a kitchen with bench and general light, a living room with pendant and wall washers, a hallway with inside and porch lights. Above three circuits the plate stops being the right answer and a larger gang count takes over.

A two-gang switch has two switches on one plate. A two-way switch is one switch controlled from two locations. They are independent properties, and a plate can be both — the FS304 is exactly that: two gangs, each wired two-way. The confusion costs buyers real money because the two are ordered interchangeably and only one of them does the job.
If you need two lights switched from one position, you need two gangs. If you need one light switched from two positions, you need one gang with a two-way mechanism and a second switch at the other door. If you need both, you need a two-gang two-way plate and a second two-gang plate at the other location.
The practical check is the cable. Count the switched actives arriving at the box: one cable means one gang, two means two. Count the strappers: a two-way circuit needs a pair between the switches. Our guide to light switch types walks through the combinations, and the FS302 one gang plate is the right part when only one circuit is involved.
Specifiers in Australia tend to name one of a handful of brands — Clipsal, HPM, Connected Switchgear, Zetr, Voltex — because those are the ranges the local wholesaler stocks and the electrician knows. That is a stock and familiarity decision as much as a quality one, and it is worth separating the two when you are tendering.
What actually determines whether a two-gang plate survives a project is less visible: the contact material, the terminal design, the plate format and whether every gang is tested on the finished plate. Ask for the AS/NZS 3112 test report, not just a SAA mark on the box, and match the model number on the certificate to the model number you are ordering.
IGOTO is the manufacturer and supplier behind the FS range, producing in Yueqing for distributors, wholesalers and private-label brands. We are not an Australian brand and we do not claim to be — we are the factory behind several of them, which is why the same plate can arrive in your carton with your logo on it and your RAL colour on the face.
FS two-gang plates are assembled and tested on our own lines: both mechanisms are fitted to the carrier, the acrylic face is applied, and each gang is function-tested before the plate is packed. Testing is per gang on the finished plate, not sampled from a production batch.
All five variants above run on the same line, in white, black, champagne and green. Custom panel colours matched to a RAL reference, laser-marked logos, retail packaging and mixed-gang orders are handled as part of the same production run.
Ordering a 2 gang Australian switch is straightforward — the checklist below mirrors what our sales team will confirm with you anyway.
Custom panel colours, laser marking and retail packaging built on the standard 2 gang platform, across PC, acrylic and aluminium series, with SAA documents covering the certified range.
Factory-direct pricing with flexible MOQ and scheduled delivery for Australian distributors stocking 2 gang switches and the wider FS, AS, CS and RS series.
Dedicated account management, Australian technical datasheets and priority production for partners building a 2 gang switch range in PC, acrylic or aluminium.
OEM/ODM, wholesale pricing and distributor support — one enquiry gets you a factory-direct quotation for the 2 gang FS plate, with SAA certification under AS/NZS 3112. Price is quoted per order rather than listed, so tell us the model (FS304), the mechanism and the quantity before you buy; replacement stock ships in bulk cartons or retail-ready boxes, and the standard mechanism is a rocker.
Contact Our Sales TeamYes, if both gangs are two-way and both locations have a matching two-gang plate. Each gang needs its own pair of strappers, so the cable between the two positions carries four strapper cores plus the feed and the two switched actives. That is a bigger cable than most people expect, and it is the reason two-gang two-way installations are planned before first fix rather than added later.
A standard Australian wall box — the same one used for a single gang. The FS plate is 121 × 80 mm regardless of gang count, and the mechanisms sit side by side on the same carrier, so no deeper box is required for two gangs at 10A.
Double pole. It breaks both active and neutral when switched off, which is required or preferred for heaters, outdoor circuits and equipment that must be fully isolated for service. It is not a substitute for a two-way mechanism — the two solve different problems and are sometimes combined across the two gangs of one plate.
Yes. White, black, champagne and green are standard across the FS range, and the plate colour is independent of the gang count. Custom RAL matching applies to two-gang plates in the same way, with a sample approved before production.
