The three options for implementing smart home technology are ranking from the least reliable to the most reliable. Scheduling means programming the home system to switch on and off at certain times regardless of whether there are people inside. Geofencing or an out-of-the-house mode kicks in when the last mobile device leaves the premises. It is very handy but the functioning of geofencing highly depends on GPS accuracy.
